Purnama (Qamarun)

This rendition of the nasheed Purnama (translated from the Arabic Qamarun) by Zizi Kirana feat. UNIC is very unique. Firstly it’s sung by former rap queen Zizi Kirana who has now turned to Islamic spiritual music. Secondly, this is the first version that I know of that has its lyrics translated into the Malay language as well.

Ding Dong Ku Datang Padamu

This has to be the scariest children’s “nursery rhyme” that I’ve listened to in recent memory. It’s in Indonesian, which is a language related to my native tongue, the Malay language. The atmosphere of the song relays a sense of creepiness and horror towards the end. This is actually unique for a song like this because usually, you don’t get horror themes relayed through a children’s song.

Agatha All Along (from “WandaVision”)

The Marvel TV series “WandaVision” came to a satisfying conclusion last week. But this theme song for the main villainess (spoiler alert!) turned out to be the most popular breakaway song from the series. I’m really digging the catchy tunes and the wacky lyrics, no doubt about that!
